Neil Carnes was born and raised in Wayne, Nebraska. He graduated from Wayne State College in 1995 and then worked in athletic departments at the University of Missouri, Campbell University and East Carolina University. He earned a Masters Degree at East Carolina in 1998.

Later, Carnes worked in education at Ralston High School and the American School in Pachuca, Mexico. Carnes met his wife, Adriana, while teaching at the American School in Mexico. In 2003, they moved to Lexington, Nebraska where he taught Social Studies and coached basketball and football at Lexington High School The couple has three children, Daniel, Max, and Isabella.

The family moved to Columbus in 2013 when Adriana accepted the job of Dean of Students at Columbus Middle School. Carnes worked at Columbus High and Middle School from 2014-2016. He has had a life-long interest and enthusiasm in real estate and business and will bring that enthusiasm to HOME Real Estate.
